Its basic objective is the development of perception and the capacity for analysis and synthesis using the human model as a reference. It deepens in the application of the basic principles of pictorial practice, working with the structural components of the same: colour, composition, space, matter, etc.

3. Syllabus
In order to have an overview of the syllabus and the contents of the subject, we would like to point out that the distribution of the contents is organized in two time blocks coinciding with the first and second semester, according to the progressive complexity of the proposed exercises. The skills and knowledge acquired are cumulative and applicable in increasingly complex processes on a continuous referential model: the human body.
1st semester: Objective: To acquire knowledge about colour through pictorial practice. To analyse and represent objectively the nude and clothed human body applying basic knowledge of colour and composition. Content: Colour theory. Application of harmony and chromatic contrast in the naturalistic representation of the human figure. The conception of pictorial space: the compositional properties of colour.
2nd semester: Objectives: To apply the knowledge acquired about colour and its psychological, expressive and symbolic dimension in the subjective representation of the human figure and other environmental references. CONTENTS Perception: psychological and significant dimension of colour. The expressive properties of colour. The representation of identity: the portrait. The representation of the environment: landscape
TOPICS
Topic 1: The human model of the natural.
Topic 2: Colour theory
Topic 3: From colour theory to practice
Topic 4: Psychological and significant dimension of colour
Topic 5: The portrait
Topic 6: The landscape
4. Academic activities
For the development of theoretical contents: Lecture; Attendance at seminars or conferences; Bibliographic search; Recommended reading; Group work on a question posed by the teacher; Evaluation sessions;
For the development of practical content: Workshop practices with human models from nature; Workshop practices with other references from nature; Directed practical work; Outdoor practices (Landscape) when the weather permits; Evaluation sessions.
The weekly calendar is composed of 30 sessions throughout the term of 3 hours (face-to-face classes). The rest of the time is autonomous work. Attendance to face-to-face sessions is essential for the continuous evaluation.
5. Assessment system
There will be two types of evaluation: Continuous evaluation and global evaluation (final test)
Those who pass the continuous evaluation are not required to take the final exam, but may take it voluntarily in order to improve the grade, in which case the best of the grades prevails. The final global test must be taken by those who do not pass the continuous evaluation.
For the continuous evaluation, the following will be taken into account:
-
The practical exercises carried out weekly in the workshop classes (case analysis), through direct observation and timely delivery of the same (portfolio). In order to be evaluated in this modality, a minimum of 80% of the work proposed during the term must be submitted.
-
Written tests: They may consist of multiple-choice exams or the development of questions dealt with in the theoretical classes and/or the writing of reports or essays.
For the final global test, the following is proposed:
-
Practical exercises consisting of solving problems and cases based on life poses of the living model (self-portrait is included). It will be worth 100% of the final grade if there is no written test and 80% if there is one.
-
Written tests: Such tests will not always be performed. They may consist of multiple-choice exams or the development of questions dealt with in the theoretical classes and/or the writing of reports or essays. In case there is a written test, it will be worth 20% of the final grade.
